Shawn and I share one very important common passion- FOOD. On our honeymoon we basically ate our way through Vancouver. It was like day six of The Very Hungry Caterpillar EVERY DAY. I won't bore ya'll with all of the deets, but here are the highlights:
POUTINE- I can't believe I had never had it before, but seriously? Fries, gravy, and cheese curds... how can you go wrong?
Apple tartine and homemade vanilla bean ice cream- the best either of us has ever had! (Except for my mom's!)
Benedict breakfast room service- you know it!
Cheese plate IN BED anyone?
Liege waffle with lavender milk chocolate dipping sauce. Phenomenal. We went here twice because I wish I could eat this every morning of my life.
Bison carpaccio with parmesan shavings and potato chips on top!
We got THREE desserts on this night... cause that's how we roll. Especially when it's our honeymoon.
Butterscotch creme brulee, white chocolate bread pudding, chocolate espresso mousse.
Some kind of awesome French breakfast with eggs and cheesy potatoes.
A coconut tart from a neat little Chinese bakery.
An egg pastry.
JapaDog. That's seaweed on top. AMAZING.
Japadog with fried cabbage on top. DOUBLE AMAZING.
Mango ice cream with real gold on top. We ate REAL GOLD.
This was a GREAT morning! :) That's right. There are three cinnamon buns and only two of us.
Our second hotel gifted us with these cute little truffle cakes. Now that's hospitality.
Yeah... that was good.
We went to the most AMAZING restaurant we have ever been to- called West. We were treated like real rich people and the food was out of this world!
Cucumber wrapped goat cheese with a fancy schmancy schmear. (Say that five times fast.)
THE WORLD'S BEST SCALLOP with quail eggs and more fancy schmear. A work of art.
I don't even know. But it was delicious. And it had a lot of cheese on top. And that foamy stuff? It's PARMESAN FOAM!!!
Another three dessert night. Well... it was actually more like five since there were three small desserts on one of the plates, but whatever. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures worth posting, but I'll tell you what we had anyways. Frozen chocolate creme brulee, an apple buscuit with BACON ice cream(!), and a chocolate sampling platter. I only felt a little bit sick afterward, but it was totally worth it.
The next morning we were back in the game, starting with banana stuffed french toast with a freakin' huge dallop of homemade maple whipped cream.
A trip to Canada would not be complete without... maple ice cream.
Have you had enough to eat today, Christine? Why no, thank you. I think I'll have a candy bar.
On our last day we went to a fancy afternoon tea that our swanky hotel hosted.
I felt like a real American Girl...
...until I accidentally threw a sandwich into Shawn's lap and spilled my tea all over the table. BUT! It didn't make it any less delicious. :)
Thanks, Vancouver, for a freaking awesome YUMMYMOON!
AMAZING!!!!!!!! I'm soo glad you guys had a great time!
